Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are all now gearing up to celebrate the feast of nativity of Our Lady. Most of our parishes will celebrate the novenas to Our lady of Valankanni. Some of us will go to Valankanni. Those who can’t afford to go to Valankanni, they prefer to visit our diocesan shrine of Valankanni at Ajgaon, Sawantwadi. The tradition of Novena comes from the Acts of apostles where the apostles and our lady prayed for nine days in order to receive the Holy Spirit. May these novenas to our lady help us to follow her Son more closely.
I wish to thank at this occasion our Honorable Railway minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu who has given us the train services to go to Valankanni, Tamilnadu. The train will start from Sawantwadi Road Railway station (kindly follow the Railway time table for the accurate details). I also thank all those who took initiatives to meet him and explain to him our need. These train services are available during the festival time. Please make use of them and gain spiritual benefits by visiting Valankanni.
May Our lady continue to inspire all of us to lead a simple and holy life.
With love and prayers,
Yours in Christ,
RT. Rev. Alwyn Barreto,
Diocese of Sindhudurg
